Undoubtedly Spanish is on the top of demand nowadays. Whether you’ve already begun studying Spanish or you’re just thinking about it, it’s really advisable to learn it in Bogota, the capital of Colombia.
Firstly, it’s recognised as the clearest Spanish in the world. No muddle with pronunciation, no hushing sounds, perfect articulation.
Secondly, nothing extra. No problem with «tú» like in Argentina, no complication with «vosotros» as in Spain.
Thirdly, the pace. With the time, when you’ll flow into understanding, you’ll unconsciously emulate the speed of the Colombian speech, that’s pretty fast but clear.
In addition to all the previous benefits, the capital of Colombia is located in the middle of the country, that guarantees you no cuts of word endings (as on the coast) and just right amount of emotionality (while in Medellin, for example, people speak revealing their emotions much more and in a more relaxing way).
Where to study?
A year ago I was searching through the whole Google, trying to find exhaustive information with all the universities offering to study Spanish for foreigners. Some blogs helped me, but the main part I had to search by myself through the official sites of all the universities of Bogota.
Here’s a summary of my search with contact information and some prices (for 2016).
1. The National University of Colombia
Price: $ 798.400 COP (≈ 270 US$). For 2017 the price is $850.300 COP (≈ 288 US$).

I personally find it the best option as it is the cheapest one and of a really high quality. I studied this course there myself and I highly recommend it. The classes are held every weekday from Monday to Friday for 2 hours during about 2 months. You have to accomplish 80 hours of Spanish and pass a final exam to receive an official paper saying the studied level of Spanish.
Schedule: The classes are held every weekday from Monday to Friday for 2 hours during about 2 months. You have to accomplish 80 hours of Spanish and pass a final exam to receive an official paper saying the studied level of Spanish.
There are 6 levels of Spanish taught in The National University of Colombia: A1.1 and A1.2, A2.1 and A2.2, B1.1 and B1.2, B2.1 and B2.2 that are respectively equal to A1-B2 levels of Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Before starting a course you’ll be asked to pass a computer and oral tests at the University to find a group that suits you the best.
The only inconvenience of this course, in my opinion, is that there can be not enough participants for a certain level (they open a course if there are at least 12 students) and you’ll have to take a course with a lower level. But they open courses several times per year, so it you’re staying in Colombia for quite a long time, you should definitely consider this option.
